When he was well over 50 years old, Joe adopted one year old female dog named Tulip. Her previous owners did not care too much for her, actually, they completely neglected her. While Joe was always unsuccessfully looking for ideal friend, he finally found it in Tulip the dog. Until then, she only knew of fenced yard, never knowing of puddles and going for a walk. She knew nothing. But she gave Joe happiest period of his life and completely turned his life around. He wrote a book about it, which was then made into animated film which starts with a sentence: „Unable to love each other, the English turn naturally to dogs.”
