Touch
Dogs start their lives making contact with everything that surrounds them entirely with touch and smell.
In dogs and many mammals, most sensitive part for this sense is around the nose. Mother's body is the first stimuli felt by cubs. As soon as they are born mother will lick them stimulating breathing. Moving cubs around the den is easier thanks to keen sense of touch. It is crucial for communication. In a pack it is used for strengthening the bond, but is also relevant in achieving hierarchy. Mutual licking of the noses while greeting, licking wounds, asking for food or expressing tenderness is all the ways in which specimens connect. On the other hand, shoving, pushing down to the ground... is a way to show dominance, but touch is important in games also, when they are rolling over, nibbling... It is unavoidable while courting which is prelude to breeding.
Taste
Taste buds are located on the tongue as well as receptors for pain and thermo-receptors. Tongue is very moist and important in thermoregulation via panting. They recognize all tastes: sweet, sour, salty and bitter.
