More than 75% of owners of dangerous breeds declare that they chose these dogs because they are strong. The rest of them is with similar or same motives – just hidden. This tells that almost all owners of dangerous breeds desire to appear tough. Some go so far that they use them in fights. Most of them does not do that, but with ear cropping and tail docking (depending on the breed) they more explicitly showcase how their dog is tough or with elitist stand express how their specimen is the perfect representative of its breed. If they leave the ears flopped they mask their true intentions of why they want to own such dog or try to prove how these breeds are not how some represent them and that it is much up to the owner. it is true that it depends on the upbringing, but the facts show that certain breeds carry certain genes. Both factors are important when defining what makes a dog dangerous.
